You can actually use it intelligently to clear your path of monsters, which will allow you to collect more scrap like the apparatus or the circuit bee hive.

You should also note that the boombox runs on an electric battery, which can run out after a while. However, the boombox can also be easily recharged back on the spaceship. And even on a single charge, it runs for quite a while before the battery runs out.

Turn on the boombox and place it anywhere inside a facility.
Some monsters get attracted to the sounds it produces.
You will be easily able to loot the facility once the horrors in your way are distracted.
One member of the team can also become bait for these monsters and run around with the boombox.

It is pretty easy to get the boombox, and you can actually get one in your first exploration mission additionally. Every run, the player starts with 60 Credits, so you can actually purchase the item before landing on the first moon known as Experimentation.

You can also get it on sale if you’re lucky, like me. I was able to purchase the boombox for 24 Credits when the store blessed me with a 60% off sale on this item. If you do get hit with a sale, make sure to grab more than one and store the extra boomboxes so that you can use them later in your playthrough.
