Elden Ring: Best Darth Maul Build

My Darth Maul build guide lists gear, armor, talismans, and weapon to wield a lightsaber-like weapon and slash enemies in style.

Are you looking to be the Elden Ring version of Darth Maul? Well, you’ve come to the right place. With many interesting builds and best weapons out there, players have managed to somehow find a way to create a build that highly resembles Darth Maul.

With a double-sided blade drenched in the red aura, it’ll feel almost like you wield a lightsaber. Combine that with the combat of Elden Ring, you will be able to put Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to shame. With that being said, let’s dive into the Darth Maul Build.

Key Takeaways
  • Elden Ring has numerous options for character customization that you can use to create Darth Maul in the game.
  • The stats required for Darth Maul’s build are:
  • The Twinblades are the weapon required for Darth Maul’s build.
  • The Bloodflame incantation is required to give the twinblades the red lightsaber effect of Darth Maul.

Darth Maul Build Starting Class

Following is a summary of the Darth Maul Build in Elden Ring:

- Radagon’s Soreseal
- Green Turtle Talisman
- Erdtree Favor

In my opinion, the thing with the Darth Maul Build is that you are most likely going to want to spec into it for aesthetic purposes. It is not one of those builds that you would take to late-game. Regardless, we will look at how to optimize the build so that you can take it as far as possible.

  • A dexterity or strength-based build, like the Samurai Build would work really nicely with the Darth Maul build.
  • But only 12 points in Faith and 10 points in Arcane are required for it so we can focus heavily on stats that will aid us with our melee combat. These will mostly include Strength or Dexterity (can take either the paths), Vigor, and Endurance to make sure we get the edge in battle.

In picking a base starting class, trying to get a good balance between the attributes needed for the blade as well as those needed for the incantation could be challenging. Especially considering the blade requires an 18 dexterity to simply get started. Therefore, three possible starting classes can help out the most. These are the Warrior, Samurai, and Vagabond classes.

Darth Maul Build Gear

For the EDarth Maul build, you will be needing three different items.

  • Twinblade: The dual-blade weapon itself.
  • Bloodflame Incantation: The incantation required to give it the red flame.
  • Finger Seal: The item needed to combine the blade with the incantation.

Twinblade

Type Physical Magic Fire Light Holy  Critical Boost
Attack 119 0 0 0 0 100
Guard 45 30 30 30 30 30

We have covered the Twinblade in great detail and you can find out everything about it here: Elden Ring Twinblade Location guide. However, we will again touch on it briefly to guide you completely. I highly recommend that you equip the Twinblade as a two-handed weapon if you wish to stay true to the Darth Maul build!

  • Requirement: 18 Dexterity and 10 Strength.

Location

Elden Ring – Dragon Burnt Ruins; Twinblade Location

In my opinion, getting the Twinblade is quite easy. In the middle of Limgrave, you can come across the “Dragon-Burnt Ruins” which hold the blade. Do note that you will be needing your Torrent horse, to jump up into the completely walled ruins.

Here’s the path that I would recommend:

Right as you leave the tutorial island, you will come across the First Step Site of Grace. Making your way East from there, it is a straight path with no enemies in between. Once you get to the 4-walled ruins, jump up inside. You will see a cellar opening in the ground. Go down and straight, you will come across a chest. Open the chest and you will have the Twinblade.

Bloodflame Incantation

Bloodflame Location
Elden Ring – Rose Church; Bloodflame Location

Bloodflame incantation is at the Rose Church. If you’ve beaten Godrick, it’s straightforward. If not, bypass the gate, go north to a broken bridge. Take the path left to Liurnia of the Lakes, and find a ridge with a site of grace. Descend carefully, then head to the Rose Church.

Elden Ring Darth Maul Build Teardrop Scarab
Elden Ring – Teardrop Scarab

When there, look for Teardrop Scarabs. They are non-hostile creatures but once you kill them, they will drop the Bloodflame incantation. The incantation requires 10 Arcane and 12 Faith. It will cost 20 FP to use and 10 Stamina. The buff lasts for 60 seconds and causes blood loss on enemies.

Finger Seal

You will need the Finger Seal to combine the incantation with the Twinblade. Head to the Roundtable Hold. You will be able to purchase it from the Twin Maiden Husks. After purchasing it, equip it for use.

Getting Lightsaber Look

Now that you have the Twinblade, Bloodflame incantation, and the Finger Seal, you are ready to combine it all. So, with the blade in one hand and Finger Seal in the other, press the left L1, LB, or RMB which will allow you to apply the Bloodflame incantation. This will finally give you the red flame on your blade which will make it look like the Darth Maul lightsaber. the Bloodflame blade incantation is actually one of the best incantations in the game.

Darth Maul Build Armor

In my experience, the Darth Maul build in Elden Ring’s main focus is getting the Twinblade. But if you want to succeed in battle there are a few armor and Talisman recommendations.

Because you will be double-wielding the Twinblade, having a shield is likely not an option. Therefore, your defense strategy will mostly entail dodging and relying on your armor as a last line of defense. To maximize your chance of successful dodges, make sure to equip an armor set that lets you remain in the light to medium load. Anything above that will make it extremely hard to avoid enemy attacks.

Darth Maul Build Armor
Elden Ring – Land of Reeds Armor Stats

An early game armor that is good for lighter loads is the Land of Reeds armor. It is an overall balanced armor, protecting against many elemental damages.

Where it does lack, however, is in poise. Poise is the stat that dictates how easy it is for you to get staggered. You can get it from the Isolated Merchant Shack, north of Caelid. But if you started off with the Samurai base class, then you should already have Land of Reeds armor.

Elden Ring Darth Maul Build Black Knife Armor
Elden Ring – Black Knife Armor

Additionally, you can also try out the Black Knife armor, which is considered one of the best light armor of the game. However, the problem with acquiring that armor is that it is found later on in the game. So you will have to get through many bosses before you can get that armor. It can be found in an archway behind Ordina, Liturgical Town in Consecrated Grounds.

But in general, you can mess around with armor as you please. All you have to ensure is that you remain in the medium load range to avoid enemy hits. Darth Maul Build Talisman

There are three Talismans in particular that can help with the Darth Maul Build.

Radagon’s Soreseal

Not to be mistaken with the Radagon’s Scarseal Talisman. It adds +5 to Vigor, Endurance, Strength, and Dexterity. As the Darth Maul build is a Melee Weapon build, these attributes are quite significant, making it a helpful Talisman. You can find the Radagon’s Soreseal in Fort Faroth.

However, according to my experience, there is one downfall. It increases all damage taken by 15%. So, although your offense will be greatly increased and you can dodge more efficiently, your margin of error will decrease.

Green Turtle Talisman

I think you want to be aggressive with the Darth Maul Build. But with aggression comes the cost of stamina. To counter that, the Green Turtle Talisman raises stamina recovery speed. You can find it in Summonwater Village. You will need a *Stonesword key* to break the seal on the *Imp Statue*.

Erdtree Favor

The Erdtree favor is generally a must-have Talisman. As we will be going in aggressively with the Darth Maul build, having extra HP is always a plus. Not only that but the Erdtree favor increases stamina and Equip Load. These increased stats will allow you to remain aggressive and also put on heavier armor for better defense. You can find Erdtree Favor in Fringefold Hero’s Grave. You will need two Stonesword Keys to get inside.

Those are some of the Talismans that could work well with the Darth Maul build. Of course, feel free to experiment on your own.

Darth Maul Build Playstyle

You need to be quite innovative with how you play with the Darth Maul build. As mentioned, many times, you are double-wielding the Twinblade, which leaves your defense open. Therefore, you need to be quick on your feet and time your dodges correctly to avoid taking any damage. As you progress in the game, you will need to invest more points into your endurance.

  • Handling heavier armor will provide more defense and allow you to withstand enemy attacks.
  • Having enough invincibility frames (I-frames) while dodging is crucial, so adjust your equipment accordingly.
  • Consider practicing parrying to enhance your defensive capabilities.
  • Maintaining an aggressive playstyle is recommended for the Darth Maul build.
  • Utilize melee attacks to deal significant damage.
  • The Bloodflame Incantation’s blood loss build-up emphasizes the need for aggression.
  • Investing points in Vigor (or a similar attribute) will benefit your overall progress with the build.

With that, you’re ready to become Darth Maul and bring your terror upon enemies of Elden Ring. Good luck with your Elden Ring Darth Maul build. If you are looking for other builds, consider reading Elden Ring Confessor Build: Gear, Weapons, & Spells.
