Remnant 2 Awakened King DLC: BEST Weapons [Top 4]

Learn about the top weapons you can get the Awakened King DLC of Remnant 2, detailing their stats, pros and cons, and unlocking procedure.

The Awakened King DLC of Remnant 2 brings a variety of new and distinct weapons to play with. On top of the new Ritualist Archetype, you can make a unique build using these weapons, crafting unique playstyles and strategies to test in PvE and PvP.

Key Takeaways
  • The Awakened King DLC introduces seven new weapons into Remnant 2, including 3 Long Guns and 4 Melee weapons.
  • Most of these weapons have new movesets and special abilities, making them unique amongst the DLC and base-game weapons.
  • However, players can only access the topmost weapons in the extreme late-game phase of the DLC, and since there are no secondary weapons, players can’t complete the weapon trio with new gear.
  • From personal experience, the best weapons in Remnant 2’s latest DLC are the Monarch, Wrathbringer, Sparklift Shotgun, and the Abyssal Hook.

Best DLC Weapons In Remnant 2

Here’s an overview of the best weapons you can get in Remnant 2’s Awakened King DLC:

1. Monarch

The Best Long Gun in the Awakened King DLC
dlc weapon
The Monarch Long Gun (Picture Captured by me)
  • Why I Chose This: Besides the insane potential that I will list, the Monarch is extremely fun to use and easy to handle.

The Monarch is a mighty automatic rifle that shoots continuous bursts of energy. This weapon’s main and distinct feature is its Weapon Mod, which shoots a harpoon onto a target and automatically aligns your gun’s shots onto that target regardless of which direction you’re pointing at, effectively making them ‘Homing Rounds.’

Shooting the harpoon charges your Influence that, once filled, creates a shockwave and gives you infinite ammo and a 20% damage boost. You can use the harpoon at any time, and once fired, you can aim the Monarch at other enemies, which damages the harpooned target and the enemies you’re currently shooting.

You can get the Monarch weapon after killing the One True King while he has his weapon in hand. After killing him like that, you’ll receive the Agony Spike, which you can give to Ava and craft the Monarch.

  • Immense stagger potential.
  • Extremely high penetrating power.
  • Huge AOE attack potential with the proper setup.
  • Low ammo reserves.
  • Low Base Damage.

2. Wrathbringer

The Best Melee Weapon in the Awakened King DLC
Wrathbringer remnant 2
The Wrathbringer Melee Weapon (Screenshot Grabbed by me)
  • Why I Chose This: The Wrathbringer’s the undisputed king of damage in Remnant 2, and by encouraging an aggressive playstyle, I consider it a top choice for almost any scenario.

The Wrathbringer is another late-game weapon that you can craft using the insert obtainable after killing the One True King while he doesn’t have his weapon in hand. The weapon’s built-in Weapon Mod, Awakening, which grants +5% Melee Damage after an incoming attack. You can stack this buff up to 10 times, so you can push your damage output by up to 50%.

With the DLC and the latest patch notes, the Wrathbringer is unquestionably the king of damage in melee weapons. Furthermore, from my experience, you can pair it with the Atonement Fold to make it even more overpowered, going up to almost 450 damage with each swing.

Important: You can get either the Wrathbringer or Monarch in a single playthrough since you can only kill the One True King once.
  • High damage output.
  • Weapon Mod stacks up with bleed.
  • Quick time-to-kill.
  • Slightly buggy animations.

3. Abyssal Hook

The Best Stagger-oriented Melee Weapon
hook remnant 2

  • Why I Chose This: Despite the nerfs, the Abyssal Hook is a brilliant weapon against powerful enemies and minibosses who you can repeatedly stagger.

The Abyssal Hook is an exceptionally powerful melee weapon that you can further enhance with its Weapon Mod, Fathomless Deep, which increases your Melee Stagger by 10% after a charged attack. For a while, the Abyssal Hook was easily the best DLC weapon in Remnant 2, but with the first patch after its launch, the Hook has gotten significantly weaker.

Here’s how you can get the Abyssal Hook in Remnant 2:

  1. Starting from the Drowned Wen World Stone, head down the alleyway and follow the straight path until you reach your first checkpoint.
  2. Upon taking the checkpoint, turn around and climb the short staircase on your left, then go down to reach the sewers.
  3. Inside, take the first right and climb the ladder towards a boneyard, then proceed through the arch on your left, and you’ll find the Abyssal Hook.

  • Impressive damage.
  • High Staggering ability.
  • High Weak Spot Damage.
  • Volatile because of the recent nerfs.
  • Slower than most melee weapons in the DLC.

4. Sparkfire Shotgun

The Best Close-Range Long Gun

The Sparkfire Shotgun is an incendiary shotgun that shoots fire-imbued bullets that can Burn enemies. Like most shotguns in Remnant 2, it’s a beast at close range and can be paired with status-effect-oriented items to become even more effective.

You can use the following procedure to get the Sparkfire Shotgun:

  1. From the Derelict Lighthouse, proceed through the eastward route of the dungeon until you spot a Lighthouse.
  2. Defeat the Gorecarver and Thunderpiercer bosses at the western corner of the docs to get the Lighthouse Key, then inspect it and interact with it to reveal a new modified key.
  3. Head to the Lighthouse’s basement via the narrow passageway at the foot of the building and use the Lighthouse Key to open the door.
  4. Inside, you’ll find the Sparkfire Shotgun.

Important: Do not use the Lighthouse Key on the locked door at the Lighthouse’s balcony. Doing so will give you the Lighthouse Keeper’s Ring but bar you from getting the Sparkfire Shotgun, and you’ll need to rerun the DLC to get it.

  • Great close-range damage output.
  • Works well with the Singed Ring, which you can obtain using this YouTube video.
  • Poor long-range accuracy.
  • Weak against fire-resistant enemies.

My Favorite New Weapons In The Awakened King DLC

On multiple reruns of the new DLC, I’ve extensively stuck with two weapons because of how fun they are. My first weapon is the Monarch, which reminds me of the Draupnir Spear from God of War Ragnarok. It’s highly versatile and encourages thinking outside the box to make calculated and rewarding plays.

My second favorite weapon alongside the Monarch is the Ritual Spear melee weapon. Although I don’t consider it one of the best weapons in this DLC, I simply love its agility, moveset, and adrenaline. I mainly used spear-like weapons in Remnant 1, and it’s great to see a strong comeback of this weapon type in Remnant 2.

That wraps up my brief guide on the best weapons in the Awakened King DLC of Remnant 2. As mentioned earlier, every new weapon in the DLC offers something unique and intriguing. Therefore, the ideal weapon for you, in most cases, may boil down to personal preference. As such, you should test out whichever weapon you find and see which one you find the most fun and, thus, suits you the most.
