Remnant 2: All Secret Archetypes & How To Unlock Them

Remnant 2 has six Secret Archetypes that can't be unlocked during a normal playthrough, so here's how you can unlock them.

Remnant 2 has a total of 11 Classes or Archetypes. Now, some of them, the Challenger, Handler, Hunter, Medic, and Gunslinger, are available from the start. But some Remnant 2 Secret Archetypes will only be available if you have completed certain tasks. These Secret Archetypes include Alchemist, Engineer, Explorer, Summoner, Invader, and Archon. They are all quite tough to unlock, and if you don’t know where to look, chances are you’ll never find at least half of them.

IMPORTANT: All of the Secret Classes are well-hidden in Remnant 2. Be sure to read every step so you don’t miss out on the steps of how to unlock them.
Key Takeaways
  • There are 6 Secret Archetypes in Remnant 2.
  • They are Unlocked after players acquire the Crafting Items for their Engrams.
  • Players discovered the secret class Archon by datamining Remnant 2’s files.
  • Explorer and Alchemist are relatively easy to get.
  • For the Summoner, Engineer, and Invader, players will have to either go to specific places or complete their required tasks.
  • Archon is the hardest to get because its preparation will require you to collect different Skills and Gear Items.

Remnant 2 Secret Archetypes

As I have already mentioned, there are 6 Secret Archetypes in Remnant 2; you will have to unlock them individually.

Although I have explained in detail what the process is to unlock these Classes, here is a summary of each of them and their required items:

1. Explorer

Although the Explorer Archetype can be considered one of the straightforward to unlock Archetype in Remnant 2, it is still hard. For that, you will have to simply complete the story as it is, without having to go to any other specific locations to find certain items like for other Secret Archetypes.

Locating The Broken Compass

For the Explorer Archetype, players will have to defeat the Final Boss. Now, the Final Boss is, obviously, the hardest Boss in Remnant 2. Annihilation, the final Boss, will be a tough boss to defeat. And from my experience, if you get a few hits, you’ll be killed in an instant.

Therefore, you will have to work on your strategy to defeat it. But, if you want to get done with the fight, then you can read the Annihilation Cheese guide. It is an easy strategy, and you will have the Final Boss defeated in no time. Once you are done with the fight, you will be rewarded with the Broken Compass.

Purchasing The Golden Compass

Once you have the Broken Compass, take it back to Ward 13 to Wallace. And he will give you the Golden Compass, which you can equip to unlock the Explorer Archetype finally.

You’ll need the following items to get the Golden Compass from Wallace:

  • 1x Broken Compass
  • 10x Lumenite Crystals
  • 1,000x Scrap

2. Summoner

Unlocking the Summoner can be quite hard if you don’t know what exactly to do here. That is because it requires you to purchase the main crafting material from a secret shop.

To locate The Faded Grimoire in Remnant 2, I would suggest the following steps:

  1. Start by accessing the Yaesha world, known as the Jungle World.
  2. Locate the Bloodmoon Altar within Yaesha.

Bloodmoon Altar’s Location

  • I found it in the Far Woods, but some players have reported finding it in the Forbidden Grove.
  • Look for a blue marker on the map indicating its location.
  • The Bloodmoon Altar serves as a vendor where you can buy various items.
  • To obtain the Faded Grimoire for the Summoner Archetype, make the purchase.

Blood Moon Event

  • You need 15 Blood Moon Essence to purchase the book.
  • The Blood Moon event is essential for this, so watch for it.
  • The event occurs randomly when you enter a zone.
  • The sky will take on a red and pink hue during the event.
  • Search for small Pinkish-red orbs flying in the sky, which are the Blood Moon Essences.
  • Shoot them down to collect them.
  • These orbs can be elusive; I collected 5 in one event.
  • Trigger the Blood Moon event multiple times to gather a total of 15 Blood Moon Essences.

Once you have 15 Blood Moon Essence, return to the Bloodmoon’s Altar and purchase the Faded Grimoire to unlock the Summoner.

The cost for the Faded Grimoire includes:

  • 15x Blood Moon Essence
  • 5x Lumenite Crystal
  • 1,500x Scrap

After obtaining the Faded Grimoire, visit Wallace in Ward 13 to purchase the Tomb of the Bringer, which allows you to equip the Summoner Archetype.

The requirements for the Tomb of the Bringer include:

  • 1x Faded Grimoire
  • 10x Lumenite Crystal
  • 1,000x Scrap

3. Alchemist

The Alchemist is one of the Secret Archetypes you can unlock. It is unlocked in the Losomn region of Remnant 2. Losomn will be unlocked later on, so if you haven’t yet unlocked it, don’t worry. I can’t exactly say when you’ll unlock it because it is random.

Locating The Mysterious Stone

Once you have reached the Losomn world, you’ll have to get to the Dran Slums area in Morrow Parish. If you didn’t get that in your World, you can then enter Adventure Mode and then re-roll the World. When you get to Morrow Parish, you’ll know you’re in the right spot and can start from there.

Here’s a path that I would recommend:

  1. When you get the right World, head into the sewers.
  2. There will be Sewer Grates that will have a Manticora spawn in them. These are bat-bears that will attack you on sight.
  3. The Manticora attacks and then hides back in the Sewers. But if you get near the Sewer Grates and let them grab you, they will take you to their lair.
  4. There, you will have to kill it. Once it is killed, it will drop a Mysterious Stone.

Purchasing The Philosopher’s Stone

Pick it up and visit Wallace in Ward 13. He is the guy who lets you choose one of your starting classes. Buy the Philosopher’s Stone from Wallace.

It will require the following items to purchase:

  • 1x Mysterious Stone
  • 10x Lumenite Crystal
  • 1,000x Scrap

4. Engineer

Unlocking the Engineer is wild among the Secret Archetypes list. Also, unless you 100% know what you’re doing, you won’t get your hands on the Engineer Class. But if you know where to look for it, it can be quite simple for you. You’ll need to locate the Alien Device to get its Engram.

Locating The Alien Device

Start at N’Eurd. Upon reaching the second overworld zone, Timeless Horizon or Eon Vault, stay close to the Prison. Look for an area with spikes on the right and a cliff on the left. Navigate through the gap between them.

Here’s my recommended method for locating the Alien Device:

  1. When you enter the gap, your character will get poisoned and start coughing.
  2. Keep going; that is the only way to get the Remnant 2 Secret Archetype Engineer.
  3. After a few meters, you will come to a cliff end.
  4. From there, jump to the other cliff, and you’ll find an Engineer’s corpse. You can loot it, as it will give you the Engineer Armor set.
  5. From there, jump down, and you will find a golden item. That is the item ‘Alien Device’ that you’re looking for.
  6. After collecting it, you will die, so it’s no use to get back. Once you spawn, you’ll have the Alien Device in your inventory.

Getting The Drzyr Caliper

You can now head back to Wallace in Ward 13, and he will sell you the Drzyr Caliper. Once acquired, you can use it to unlock the Engineer Class or Archetype.

You’ll need the following items to purchase it:

  • 1x Alien Device
  • 10x Lumenite Crystal
  • 1,000x Scrap

5. Invader

Now, when you get to unlocking the Invader, you will have one main item to start the progress. And that is the Melee Weapon named Dreamcatcher. For that, you will have to grind a lot, as it isn’t an easy feat. To get the Invader Archetype, you’ll need the Wooden Shiv.

To obtain The Wooden Shiv actively, I suggest the following steps:

Acquire the Dreamcatcher:

    • Begin by re-rolling Losomn until you start at Morrow Parish.
    • Progress through the Asylum to find three Stone-carved Dolls in various locations. Collect them along with Prison Cell Keys.
    • Give the Stone Dolls to a woman inside the Jail Cell, granting access to the Cell.
    • Retrieve the Nightweaver Stone Doll from the Cell.
    • Continue until you reach the Soulkey Tribute heart, pick it up, and place it on the Nightweaver’s Web in the Asylum.
    • Before facing the Boss, locate a new Nightweaver’s Web in one of the Jail Cells on your left.
    • Place the Nightweaver’s Stone Doll inside the web to obtain the Dreamcatcher weapon.

Locate The Wooden Shiv:

    • With the Dreamcatcher in hand, proceed with the story or head to Root Earth if it’s unlocked.
    • While on the Corrupted Harbor, reach a ship.
    • Turn right inside the ship and use the Dreamcatcher to obtain Walker’s Dream, a consumable.
    • Using this item will transport you to the Twilight Vale, where you’ll encounter the Boss named Bane and its minions.
    • Defeat Bane to receive the Supercharger Mutator and The Wooden Shiv.

Obtain The Serrated Root Blade:

    • Return The Wooden Shiv to Wallace in Ward 13.
    • He will give you The Serrated Root Blade in exchange, unlocking the Invader Archetype.

Remember that you’ll need the following items to purchase The Serrated Root Blade:

  • 1x Wooden Shiv
  • 10x Lumenite Crystal
  • 1,000x Scrap

6. Archon

Unlocking The Engineer can be challenging, but discovering the most difficult one, the Archon, requires delving into Remnant 2’s files via data mining. I’m not a data miner myself, so the credit for this information goes to multiple Remnant 2 community members on platforms such as Reddit and other forums.

Preparation

To get the Archon, you need to have some specific gear items that will eventually unlock a special portal in the Labyrinth area. I’ll go through these steps individually to make it easier for you to keep up.

Skills

I suggest getting the following Skills to get the Archon Class:

  • Fortune Hunter skill: Reach Explorer level 10 to gain Fortune Hunter skill. It is important as it will enhance the Explorer’s Treasure Sense. Obtain the Golden Compass Engram by visiting Wallace in Ward 13 after defeating the final boss in Remnant 2.
  • Worm Hole skill: To access the Worm Hole skill for the Invader, level it up to Level 5. Obtain the Invader Archetype by acquiring the Serrated Root Blade, as I have mentioned earlier.

Armor & Weapons

Here are all the Armor sets and Weapons that you’ll need:

  • Explorer’s Armor Set: The Relam Walker Armor Set, or the Explorer’s Set, is purchased from Whispers in Ward 13. It will become available after you have defeated the final Boss.
  • Labyrinth Staff: From the Glitching Portal in the Labyrinth, turn left. Proceed through a path that takes time to reveal itself. Defeat the mini-boss along this path and collect the Labyrinth Staff nearby.
  • Ford’s Scattergun: In Yaesha, re-roll to The Red Throne World. Find a treasure chest with a hidden wall to the left. Go through it to discover a Lock Box. Give the box to the Queen; she’ll reward you and open a passage with Ford’s Scattergun inside.
  • Cube Gun: The Cube Gun is acquired after you defeat the Boss Labyrinth Sentinel.

Amulets, Rings, and Relics

In addition to Skills, Armor, and Weapons, I recommend getting the Following Amulets, Rings, and Relics to get the Archon class:

  • Void Heart: To acquire the Void Heart, re-roll N’Erud until you encounter the world boss, Sha’Hala. Defeat Sha’Hala, then visit the Custodian. After 12 in-game hours, return to N’Erud. Visit Alepsis-Taura to obtain the Void Heart.
  • Amber Moonstone: The Ring Amber Moonstone is purchased from Cass. Her inventory will refresh every 30 minutes. So you might have to visit her a few times before you can get it.
  • Leto’s Amulet: You can purchase the Leto’s Amulet after performing 100 successful Flops while wearing Heavy Armor. Reggie in Ward 13 will sell it to you.
  • Anastasija’s Inspiration: You can buy Anastasija’s Inspiration from Whispers in Ward 13.
  • Zania’s Malice: You will find it on the Root Earth. In the Ashen wastelands, there is a hole in the walls as you walk down the ramps. You will have to crouch to access the hole.
  • Black Cat Band: You must die 15 times before purchasing the Black Cat Band from Reggie. I still have to confirm if the Ring will be available from the 16th death onwards or not.

Locating The Strange Box

Once you have all of these items equipped, you can head toward the glitching portal. It will take you to the Backrooms. You can locate the Strange Box using your Fortune Hunter skill.

Getting The Hexahedron

With the Strange Box in hand, you can now head to Wallace in Ward 13 and purchase the Hexahedron from him. That will unlock the Archon Archetype for you.

As usual, you’ll need the following items to purchase the Hexahedron:

  • 1x Strange Box
  • 10x Lumenite Crystal
  • 1,000x Scrap
